15. Next in line of our top social media apps in 2016 is Viber, a voice over IP (VoIP) app, but also enables users to share images, videos and audio messages. Initially launched for iPhone by an Israeli company, the app was later available on Blackberry, Windows and Android devices. Last April, the messaging app maker also announced encrypting all communication and the ability to hide chats in its latest version.
