Heroin use is growing in Italy as well, especially among the younger population. Out of 61,145 drug offenders in Italy (data for 2015), 55% were arrested for possession/use and 45% for supplying others with drugs. Every cloud has a silver lining and in this case, a majority of drug consumption is focused on cannabis which has less serious consequences that opium drugs like heroin.
