Yankee Candle has been the leading candle brand for decades, and it’s no wonder. Their fragrances are iconic, their products are sold everywhere, and they’re relatively inexpensive as well. Plus, just look at the huge variety of scents they carry. One to suit nearly every preference, whether you like spicy, sweet, fresh or tropical scents. Some of the strongest Yankee Candle scents can sometimes to be a favorite, while others enjoy more mild fragrances. Whatever your preference, Yankee has got you covered.

There are also candles of all sizes and shapes to choose from. While the large classic jar is always the most popular, there are jars of all sizes as well as tumblers, tea candles, votives, wax melts, car air fresheners and more. The candle company was actually founded in 1969 in Massachusetts by a man named Michael Kittredge. To discover the best Yankee Candle scents for 2020, we used two separate sources: Amazon and the Yankee Candle website. First, we searched “Yankee Candle” on Amazon and subjected each finding to a points system based on two variables: number of reviews and star ranking. For a number of reviews, we only considered candles that had more than 50 Amazon reviews and gave one point to the candles with anywhere between 50 and 100 reviews, two points to the candles with anywhere between 100 and 300 reviews, and three points to the candles with over 300 points. For star ranking, we only considered the candles that had at least a 4-star ranking. In this case, we gave candles with four stars one point, candles with 4.5 stars two points and candles with five stars three points.

After counting up the points for all of our Amazon findings, we compared the Amazon reviews and rankings to the Yankee Candle website reviews and rankings and applied the same points system to the same scents on the Yankee Candle scents list. This makes the total possible points amount twelve. Although, the highest scoring scent on this list only received eleven points. On both sites, we counted the points on only large jar candles, which tends to be the favorite Yankee Candle since those tend to generate the most reviews. Then we considered the scents of the winning large jar candles to be the winners. And since both of these websites are constantly updated and some of the world’s most popular Yankee Candle buying sites, we considered their reviews and rankings current to 2020. We also made sure to include the Amazon link to each candle on the list.
