13) The U.S was the first country to develop a nuclear triad of forces, as far back as 1945. The nuclear triad refers to the ability of a country to deliver a nuclear attack through three means, namely land-based intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), strategic bombers, and submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs). Other powers with this capability are Russia and China.
