Despite the rise of awareness and initiatives to battle mental illness, it is still on the rise in Australia, especially among teenagers. Mental illnesses are a third leading cause of disability in Australia. Almost a quarter of youth (ages 15-19) show signs of mental illness. Girls are twice more likely to be diagnosed with mental disorders than boys.
