It’s the second-largest consumer of energy, with 2.27 billion tonnes of oil equivalent, of which oil represents 863.1 million barrels. Some of the largest oil and gas companies are U.S-based, including Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM), which has the largest market capitalization of all oil and gas companies at $339 billion, while Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX) is the third-largest, with a market cap of $222 billion.
