5. Northern Pacific Right Whale

Northern Pacific right whales are one of the most endangered whale species, due to massive hunting. There are just around 500 specimens of these giant creatures today. For example, in 1963 112 whales were killed in Alaskan waters, most of them pregnant females, among which the largest recorded specimen of the northern Pacific right whales.
