What are the best places to visit in the USA in July? You know it’s the hottest time of the year but the kids are off and you don’t have to deal with unexpected storms, so you know the dead of summer is when you’ll be vacationing this year – so check out our list of the 16 best places to visit in the USA in July.
I’ve personally hated doing anything in the summer. It’s too hot to garden, for pete’s sake, let alone go to a beach. But because my kids are off from school, and business slows anyway, I find myself with time on my hands.
If you are asking for trouble and want to wait till it’s hotter, check out these 10 Best Places to Visit in the USA in August.
When people are searching for their next summer destination, they are looking to see National Parks, beaches, museums and sports events among other things.
There are obviously a few different budget choices to make – but the great thing is that in recent years the definition of a certain type of vacation is changing.
I think of the National Park System as America’s greatest jewel. The Natives knew it all along, but for most kids, it’s unfathomable to approach a tree that’s 50 feet wide. The amazingness of nature abounds and the United States is really lucky to have this. The National Parks have a lot of options in terms of lodging and food, and they’re mostly low-cost, like the parks themselves. But over the past few decades, you can find luxury lodging in some of these parks. Prices can run you past $500/night – so for those who want to love nature and hike in all its glory but really need the luxury to come home to – that’s an added value that’s fairly recent.
Similarly, trips to major cities are getting cheap too. New York used to set you back at least $300/night no matter where you stayed, but the advent of a few hostels as well as folks renting out their own homes, has provided a few cheaper alternatives to the city seekers.
With creating the list of best places to visit in the USA in July we took the most beautiful, exciting and relaxing places. Places, where the events are happening, had a major role while we were searching for the best places to visit in July, because they are happening only once every year. We took information from different sources like USA Tourist and Grammy for events, Travel Channel for beaches and Travel US News as well as Frommers for beautiful places.
Let’s take a look at the list!
16. Santa Fe
Santa Fe is a city inspired by its Native American-inspired art and architecture. In Santa Fe, you can explore the Palace of Governors built in 1610. Santa Fe is also famous as the home of Georgia O’Keefe, where you can also visit a museum dedicated to her. If you are a fan of chili, this is the right place for you to be.
15. Walt Disney World
Walt Disney World ranks 15th in our list of 16 best places to visit in USA in July. There really is no place like it. It’s nutty, crazy, organized, chaotic, safe and scary and so much more at the very same time. I do have to say, though, there’s something for everyone. Low and high-end lodging, after hours and early hours offering, fast rides and slow experiences. They really did think of everything. It’s kind of scary.
14. Yosemite
We are continuing our list of best places to visit in the USA in July with Yosemite that is one of the most visited National Parks. You will be astonished by its beauty and splendor. It’s also close to San Francisco so if you want a city trip you can arrange it. But I’ve heard people are so taken aback they just need a bit to absorb anything. Nothing man made can compare, apparently.
13. Myrtle Beach
Myrtle Beach ranks 13th in our list of 16 best places to visit in USA in July. South Carolina’s Myrtle Beach is the poor man’s St. Tropez. Which is perfect for most Americans. The good part, however, is that it’s within driving distance for a large portion of the eastern population – so they don’t have to drive to the airport, then catch a flight to a foreign country. It succeeded I think because it was convenient.
12. Nantucket
Nantucket ranks 12th in our list of 16 best places to visit in USA in July. You can stay in hotels with new-England charm, taste fantastic seafood, admire the astonishing sunset over New England waters, learn a lot about its culture and history and visit the Whaling Museum. This is a definition of the perfect summer vacation. It’s old school – remember that. And I’m not sure how much fun the kids will have, but you can say to your friends that you “Went to Nantucket’ and there’s value in that I guess.
11. Honolulu Oahu
In Honolulu Oahu, you will get the chance to learn a lot of things from historic landmarks to treasured monuments. You will find all in Honolulu from resorts, festivals, museums and Hawaii’s best Regional Cuisine chefs. But please – it’s Hawaii’s biggest city. That’s the attraction right there.

However, if you can afford it, I would highly recommend staying a couple of nights at the Four Seasons there. You’ll wish you won the lottery.
8. Yellowstone
The most beautiful National Park Yellowstone is located in three states, Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho. It’s crazy beautiful. Like old western movies and paintings beautiful. You’ll see wild Buffalo, the beautiful Snake River, mountains, wilderness, brush, the list goes on, which is why it has earned its place on this list of best places to visit in the USA in July. It’s for the cowboy/cowgirl inside of you. Prices can be reasonable ($150/night) to the nutty ($1500/night).

The Grand Canyon, that ranked 7th on our list of best places to visit in the USA in July is 6 million years old, it’s enormous and it is one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Just go see it.
6. Milwaukee
Milwaukee ranks 6th on our list of 16 best places to visit in USA in July. One of the biggest music events, SummerFest is in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Newport Folk Festival is an American annual festival in Rhode Island. It began in July 1959, and it features performances by folk, country and folk rock musicians. Please, are you surprised by this one? In fact, if you have one place to see in the States, this is it. This is where it all began, and judging but the cheetoh who’s currently our president, also possibly the place it all ends. Never mind – we aren’t there yet. Look – the best dining, the best people, the parks, the museums, the beach if you want it, insane cultural and religious institutions. The list doesn’t stop – just come, please, and help us take our mind off of our crappy ass cracker leader.
