Uttarakhand is a relatively new state in India, formed in 2000. It is located in the northern part of India. Uttarakhand is also an important pilgrimage destination for Hindus as four most sacred shrines are located in this state. This state climbed so high on this list of 15 most educated states in India, due to a high percentage of PhDs as well as a high number of postgraduates.
