7. Afghanistan
In Penal Code 1976, Article 427, a person who commits adultery or pederasty will be sentenced to long-time imprisonment. In Afghan legal terminology, “pederasty” refers to intercourse between males. However, Article 130 of the Constitution allows recourse to be made according to Sharia law, which prohibits homosexual relationships. Same-sex marriage is forbidden and in general, this is not a country that welcomes members LGBT population. Positive information, if it can be called positive in this case, is that there were no known cases of death sentences since the end of Taliban rule.
