The children under 18 make up 57% of Chad’s 11.3 million population. Chad has the third highest rate of child marriage in the world, 68% of girls are married as children which means more than one in three girls is married before the age of 15. Moreover, this practice is prevalent in both wealthy and less wealthy households. It is expected that the number of girls giving birth before the age of 15 will increase by more than 1 million by 2030 unless urgent action is taken.
