The character of Maria Clara has become an iconic figure in the Philippines up to this date. A lot of Filipinas look up to Maria Clara as they try to follow and embody the virtues that were highly represented and shown by Maria Clara such as obedience, chastity, and loyalty to family and societal expectations.
