According to a recent filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, billionaire activist Carl Icahn‘s Icahn Capital sold some 8.06 million shares of Mentor Graphics Corp (NASDAQ:MENT). The filing revealed that the investor owns 8.06 million shares of the company, equal to 6.86% of the outstanding stock, which compares with 16.12 million shares Icahn held at the end of December. The filing also disclosed that the shares have been sold to the company at a price of $18.12 per unit under the terms of a Stock Purchase Agreement.
“On February 18, 2016, the Reporting Persons entered into a Stock Purchase Agreement (the “Stock Purchase Agreement”) with the Issuer pursuant to which the Reporting Persons agreed to sell to the Issuer an aggregate of 8,060,145 Shares, at a price of $18.12 per share. The transaction contemplated by the Stock Purchase Agreement is expected to close no later than February 26, 2016.
