With more than 1.3 billion people, there’s bound to be plenty of beautiful women in China. The Chinese communists didn’t approve of beauty pageants, because, according to the Marxist teaching they demeaned women and the first national Miss World was held only in 1994. Since then, China has raked up a pretty impressive score, considering most other countries on the list had some 70 years of head start. So far, Chinese beauties have won eight Miss Asia titles (in 2004 by Coffee Lu, in 2005 by Kitty Wang, in 2008 by Eunis Yao, in 2009 by Crystal Xu, in 2010 by Xin Wang, in 2011 by Michelle Feng, in 2013 by Lily Fang, and in 2014 by Max Zhang) and two Miss World titles (in 2007 by Zhang Zilin and in 2012 by Yu Wenxia).
