9. Managua, Nicaragua
Here Christmas starts even earlier — from the 6th December. Managua ranks 9th on our list of best places to visit in Central and South America in December. It is the capital of Nicaragua, and it has one of the best artifacts in the world — six thousand years old human footprints in the volcanic mud. Talk about the history.
