5. Ophthalmology
An ophthalmologist is a specialist who treats and diagnosis eye-related illnesses and other vision disabilities. He/She must complete college and eight years of additional medical residency training. After this, an ophthalmologist is highly competent and licensed to perform visual surgery or to prescribe eyeglasses or contact lenses. There is also a subspecialist who completes one or two additional training years in medical fields such as glaucoma, cornea, pediatrics, neurology, plastic surgery, etc. which further allows the specialist to take care of more complex vision conditions.
