What does it take for a band to be amongst the most hated bands in the world? Well, not necessarily producing bad music and certainly not being unpopular! Remember that one song that plays over and over on the radio and annoys the hell out of you? No doubt that’s super popular, but the very existence of it can stir the wrath within your soul, right?
Sometimes we are just prejudiced like that! Other times the situation is stickier. Some bands make it huge that it gets their heads in the clouds. Next there are a series of instances of bad behavior and scandals that it gets too tiring for us to care anymore. Like Guns and Roses was dangerously close to being included in the list, thanks to frontman Axl Rose’s antics in the recent past. But, let’s get real; we’ve only got 11 spots on this list!
Hence, we are only sticking to the bands that stir the most amount of annoyance in us. The ones that we love to hate solely because of them being, well, them! They are the Justin Beibers of the band fraternity. But, like they say even negative publicity can be good sometimes, being the most hated bands in the world does not always mean end game. Some bands have actually created a whole career on it!

For now let’s deal with the bands who bring out that familiar cringe on our faces the moment we hear their names. So here is the who’s who in the most hated bands in the world Hall of Fame!
11. Metallica,
The once glorious days of Metallica that came with their first four albums got harder to digest with every new album that they came out with. And then came Death Magnetic as the final nail in the coffin. The band today has become one of the most jaded acts that are still around, and we’re just plain tired of it by now!
10. Blink 182,
Green Day wannabes? Well, the band actually had a promising career and “All the Small Things” might have been the jam of the summer of 1999, but then they went all out to shovel their own graves! Their brand of crazy and childish videos was only funny that one time, and then that got increasingly hard to take for us. Not to mention the bust stage performances that left their audiences cringing.
9. Limp Bizkit,
Their music wasn’t bad per se, considering the fact that they did pretty well in new metal. But the personality issue of the lead singer Fred Durst got beyond annoying. Their constant dissing of pop music made us yawn but then they went on to perform with pop artists like Christina Aguilera. Seriously, just make up your mind already!
8. Creed,
Let’s not even try to deny that we didn’t follow this band around in the 1990s. And, then came the series of similar sounding songs. We had no clue anymore about what was happening. Scott Stapps tedious angsty voice did little to help. We are just glad Mark Tremonti crossed over to Alter Bridge from this sinking ship!
7. Stone Temple Pilots,
It’s not like we hate them, we actually don’t care much about them. And in spite of them being around for ages we just don’t get to hear about them enough. Or we get confused. Basically their band image just doesn’t develop in our memories.
Apparently now they have Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington on board. Nope, we still don’t care!
6. 98 Degrees,
We are just sick of hearing them singing about the sunshine and all things mushy. And, seeing them in all white! The Nineties didn’t have a dearth of boy bands and the 98 Degrees were just one we could do without. Today’s boy band deprived world might have had a better opinion about them.
5. Smash Mouth,
Their fickle positioning sounded the death knell for them. The following they earned with their initial albums, went poof by the night when they came out with teeny bopper tracks like “All Star” and “Can’t Get Enough of You Baby”. Apparently they wanted to ride the pop wave, but we just couldn’t take them seriously anymore.
4. Insane Clown Posse,
Who wants to look at grown men with painted faces singing about things like murder, cannibalism and necrophilia? We certainly don’t. Just no matter how much we rack our brains, we have no idea why we would need horrorcore hip hop in our lives. All this rounds up to Insane Clown Posse earning a permanent place in the most hated bands in the world list.
3. Hootie & the Blowfish,
As if the bland rhythms and monotonous melodies wasn’t enough to qualify to their music as noise, lead singer Darius Rucker whose vocals could give us an instant headache. The endless radio playing only worsened our intense dislike for them.
2. U2,
Edge’s guitar effect overload over the two-notes he plays has been so overdone it is just not funny anymore. And we are sick of Bono acting all high and mighty. Of course it is U2 we are talking about and the classic U2 is a brand. But, what new stuff have they come out with in the last 15 years?
1. Nickelback,
There was a petition made for Nickelback to be removed from the HalfTime Show in Detroit for Thanks Giving. Need more proof than that that this here is the most hated band in the world ever? We are sick of the same chord progressions, same sound, and the same old Chad Kroeger and his insufferable vocals and changing hairstyles!
