Safeway Inc., the number 5 on our list of largest grocery chains by revenue in America sells food through physical stores and also owns and operates GroceryWorks.com Operating Company, LLC, an online grocery channel. In January 2015, the company merged with AB Acquisition LLC. The merger created a diversified network that includes 2,230 stores, 27 distribution facilities and 19 manufacturing plants with over 250,000 employees across 34 states and the District of Columbia. The company reported revenue of $37.6 billion for fiscal 2014.
