11 Fastest Growing Countries in The World by Population

Today we are making a list of the 11 fastest growing countries in the world by population, and that means correcting a few common assumptions. When we think about countries growing, we often think about a growing economy, or growing infrastructure; those ranks have nothing to do with this list, since we are about to reveal what are the countries with the highest population growth, and that has nothing to do with economics.

Making the ranking of the 11 fastest growing countries in the world by population we find ourselves in the continents of Africa and Asia. Being a part of this list means the countries in subject have little or no access to birth control methods and the health care systems don’t function properly. With that taken into account, let’s begin our countdown of the 11 fastest growing countries in the world by population:

11. Burkina Faso

Burkina Faso is a country in West Africa, it has a population estimated in over 17.3 million people and growing fast. At the last quarter of the year 2014, Burkina Faso had a growth percentage prior to the last year, of 3.05%.; this percentage numbers predict there will be 527.650 more people in the country. These numbers show a poor health system and general failing in birth control.

10. Libya

Located in the north face of the African continent, Libya is the country that holds the 10th largest oil reserve in the world. They have a population of over 6.000.000 people, and a tendency to population growth of 3.08%, which predicts the country will have at least 184.800 more people than the year before, and recent studies present even higher predictions. They are neighbours to Egypt, Sudan, Chad, Algeria and Tunisia.

9. Uganda

Uganda is a country in the East region of Africa, they are landlocked, and have been independent from the United Kingdom since 1962. The last census performed in Uganda showed a population of at least 36.824.000 people, but are believed to have a more realistic 38.000.000 people. The percentage of population growth for Uganda stands at 3.24% and predicts 1.231.200 newborns every year. It is evident that the birth control systems are not being effectively distributed.

8. Burundi

Burundi is a 10.4 million people country with an average population growth percentage of 3.28%. It is estimated that every year, there are around 341.120 births, making it the eighth country in terms of percentage of population growth. The landlocked country is located in the African Great Lakes region of the Southeast of Africa. It is believed that the average percentage of population growth will increase in the coming years for this country.

7. Niger

With over 1.270.000 km2, Niger is the largest country in the West African region. More than 80% of its land area is covered by the Sahara Desert, and it’s commonly known for its islamic population. The Republic of Niger has a population of over 17.2 million people estimated at the end of 2014. The percentage for population growth stands at 3.28% and is projected to grow by 564.160 newborns every year.

6. Malawi

Located in the Southeast region of the African continent, Malawi is one of the 11 fastest growing countries in the world by population because of its 3.33% population growth percentage. That number predicts a growth per year of somewhere around the 582.750 new people, due to its estimated population of 17.5 million. They are a landlocked country depending solely on agriculture to maintain their population.

5. Qatar

The first Asian country to appear in the list, is one of the world’s recent growing economic superpowers. They are located in the Southwest of Asia and are only bordered by Saudi Arabia. It’s population is of around 2.2 million people, but only 260.000 are Qatari residents. They have a population growth rate of 3.58% and predictions state that the Arab country will grow in 78.760 people, mostly expatriates that move to the country every year.

4. Ethiopia

It is located in what is called the Horn of Africa and it is a landlocked country. Ethiopia is the most populated landlocked country in the world with over 90 million people; besides this incredible statistic, Ethiopia’s population growth percentage is somewhere around the 3.86% and is expected to grow in 3.474.000 people every year. 3. South Sudan

The country of South Sudan gained its independence from Sudan in the year 2011, since then, the northeastern African country has gone through lots of changes and population shifting. The population of South Sudan is estimated at 11.3 million people with an outstanding population growth percentage of 4.12%. This statistic predicts a growth per year of around 465.560 people. This puts them on the top 3 of the ranking.

2. Zimbabwe

The Republic of Zimbabwe is a country located in southern Africa, and is surrounded by 4 other countries. They are under a dictatorship regime and are believed to have the world’s worst inflation rates due to the substantial worsening of economic conditions. Zimbabwe’s population is estimated at 14 million, and it’s percentage of population growth is at 4.36%. 610.400 new people will be born each year in Zimbabwe, according to these numbers.

And, the fastest growing country in the world by population, is:  Lebanon

Officially known as the Lebanese Republic, the country is located in the Western region of Asia, and is bordered by Syria and Israel. Lebanon has a population estimated in about 4.5 million people, but has been growing at a sustained rate of 9.37% making it, by far, the fastest growing country in the world in terms of population.
