Despite being rich in natural resources like uranium, petroleum products, this country tops this list of eleven countries with the worst quality of life and is considered among the world’ 10 poorest countries. Also it is ranked 185th on UNDP’s Human Development Index. Political instability caused by violence has attributed to the failed state of the nation. Ethnic genocide also is a major problem facing this country. The country also suffers because of very poor state of transportation network with few paved roads. The country has very low ranking on life expectancy, has poor healthcare facilities. It also ranks among the lowest in terms of liveability. More than 130,000 citizens were HIV positive in 2012 accounting for 4.7% of the total population. Poaching has degraded the wildlife in the country which has further worsened by the rapid deforestation.
