One of the major problems faced by the world today is Malaria. The disease has affected a large number of people in the past and it still remains one of the biggest threats to life. According to many authentic reports, about half of the countries around the world are affected by Malaria.
Africa is probably the most affected region by the disease and is also known as “the heartland of Malaria”. Whereas, countries outside Africa are putting serious efforts in eliminating the disease. They stay there until they mature and then come out of the liver and mix in the bloodstream, infecting red blood cells. This is when you will be diagnosed with Malaria.
There are a large number of people who are dying just because of this disease; millions of people get sick every day. NGOs and private organizations have taken some initiative to eradicate the disease completely. There are a number of campaigns, focusing particularly on the African region (an area which is most affected by this killer disease), to avoid more casualties.

At number eleven stands Zimbabwe. A country with a population of over 10,000,000, sffers about 14 deaths per year due to malaria and about 0.11 deaths per 1000 people. Malaria recorded cases are close to 736,900.
10. Swaziland
With a population of over one million, Swaziland stands at number ten in the list of countries highly affected by Malaria. There are about 14 deaths due to Malaria in a year and over 6000 Malaria cases.
9. Mauritania
Mauritania with a population of over 3 million stands at number 9 in the list of countries highly affected by Malaria. About 91 deaths are recorded in a year due to Malaria, and close to 2.80 deaths per 1000 people.
8. Ghana
Ghana with a population of over 23 million stands at number eight. According to a study, there were almost 3,400 deaths recorded in a year due to Malaria, about 14 deaths per 1000 people.
7. Central African Republic
With a population over 4 million, Central African Republic has a total of 667 Malaria deaths per year, with about 15 deaths per 1000 people.
6. Cameroon
Cameroon stands at number 6 in our list of 11 countries with the highest rates of Malaria in the world. With a population of almost 20 million the country suffers from almost 5000 deaths per year due to Malaria, which makes a total of 25 deaths per 1000 people.
5. Sierra Leone
At number 5 we have Sierra Leone with over 1700 deaths due to Malaria per year. With a population of about 5.5 million, there are 30.44 deaths per 1000 people.
4. DR Congo
The country has a population of over 60 million. DR Congo country suffers from 31.67 deaths per 1000 people due to Malaria.
3. Liberia
In 2009, there were about 871,000 malaria cases recorded in Liberia alone. The country has a population of almost 4 million with 43 deaths per 1000 people due to Malaria.
2. Angola
With a population of over 18 million, Angola stands at number two on our list. The country is highly affected by Malaria with 10,500 deaths per year and almost 57 deaths per 1000 people.

Topping our list of 11 countries with the highest rates of Malaria in the world is Cote d’lvoire. The country has a population of over 20 million with about 1.9 million Malaria cases recorded each year this means 86 deaths per 1000 people due to Malaria.
