One of the core tenets of engineering, civil engineering is an excellent field to pursue, which is why we debated on the 11 cities with the highest demand for civil engineers. Civil engineering is the practice of being involved in the various processes necessary for building any infrastructure which include designing, planning, operating, building and maintaining it as well.
Initially, civil engineers tended to work on public projects such as the construction of buildings, roads, and bridges as well. On the other hand, a military engineer was a person who worked to strengthen defenses among other jobs. However, as time has passed, many of the aspects of military engineering now fall under civil engineering.
There is a wide demand for civil engineers in the US as well. Generally, civil engineers are often hired by consulting engineering firms, federal governments, state governments, construction firms and municipalities as well. In fact, there are currently over 140,000 civil engineers in the United States alone, most of whom make a handsome salary as well. They are currently being represented by the American Society of Civil Engineers.

In order to become part of the American Society of Civil Engineers, you need to earn a bachelor’s degree from any accredited program regarding civil engineering as well as owning a license to work as a professional civil engineer. On the other hand, you can also have an experience of over 5 years working as a civil engineer. Generally, civil engineers join the ASCE in order to avail updates regarding projects and methods which are useful while also providing a platform to share and receive professional advice from various civil engineers.
It is true that engineers are being more appreciated in today’s society, which is apparent from the 11 cities with the highest demand for biomedical engineers. We decided to determine the cities with the highest demand for civil engineers as well. We first ranked the cities according to the highest salaries paid to civil engineers. The higher the salary in a city, the higher the demand as well. We also determined the cities with the most jobs for civil engineers as well. We then averaged out both the rankings to create our list. We used the US Bureau of Labor Statistics in order to determine our rankings.
