9. Robert Wood Johnson Foundation

Country – USA

Endowment – around $9.2 billion

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation ranks 9th on our list of biggest foundations in the world. It is the largest organization in the United States to solely focus on health issues. With its headquarters in New Jersey, the foundation’s goal is to improve health and healthcare for all Americans, making it pretty clear what its area of focus is.

The grants the foundation offers cover a range of health issues, such as childhood obesity, while also taking care of additional training for doctors and nurses, something that isn’t always funded properly.

The foundation isn’t only focused on helping people out with their healthcare, but also on the issues that cause the problems in the first place, such as violence, lack of housing, poverty and lack of access to proper food sources.

The man behind the foundation is Robert Wood Johnson II, the same that gave the world the brand Johnson & Johnson, one of the world’s largest companies.
