Don’t be fazed by their unusual slogan, “Keep Austin Weird”. It’s really not as weird. What it is, though, is the scene for single travelers who are looking for a much younger crowd. There is a lot of things to do around as a single person – bike around downtown, check out music festivals or music bars, join the massive sports fanbases here, or just enjoy a nice BIG serving of Texas barbecue. And all this without feeling left out because tons of kids from the universities here do exactly the same. And the best part about Austin is that there are countless inexpensive options from dining to lodging to recreation. Safety tips: steer clear of dark and secluded areas and stay close to crowds because some parts are still safer than others especially for single travelers.
