The new tech world has brought music studios at our fingertips, no matter where we are, thanks to the smartphones we carry in our pockets, so we wanted to check out some of the best music making apps for Android in 2017.
Now, it’s easier than ever to create a track just when inspiration hits. If you have a pair of headphones and your phone with you, you can even create something while sitting in the bus or during that boring lecture you should really, probably, pay attention to. However, music making apps for Android usually have a free download, which makes it that much more appealing to try your hand at becoming the next music wiz. Figuring out which are the best music creation apps for Android wasn’t easy and everyone probably has their own opinions as to what the truth is, but, in the end, we guided ourselves on the opinions of those who have really spent loads of time with the app. So, while we may provide the answer to the question for right now, we may very well not have the answer to which were the best music making apps for Android in 2015, or which were the best Android music making apps in 2016 – simply because opinions change, apps change with every update, and people feel differently.
You might also be interested in checking out our list of best music making apps for Android we wrote a while back since things have changed a bit in the meantime. If you’re more interested in working from your computer, then these free music making apps for PCs is the right list for you. Or, if iPhones are your go-to phones, then this list of best music making apps for iOS may be for you.
In order to create our list of best music making apps for Android in 2017 we checked out apps that had more than 4 stars in the Google Play Store. We then went and visited each and every one of them, ignoring those that were meant to create videos or ringtones, which involved just uploading a track and cutting it up. We took into consideration different aspects – how many overall stars they had, how many people chose to review the app, how many handed out 5 stars and how many just 1 star, as well as the number of downloads and the last time the app was updated. For each of these criteria, we handed out points. For instance, an app with 4 stars would get zero points, but one with 4.6 stars, would get 6 points. When it comes to the number of reviews, we handed out points 1-10 depending on the number brackets.
When it comes to the number of 5-star reviews and 1-star reviews, we transformed the number of reviews into percentages, and put them all in order. The number of downloads also came into play, with us rewarding apps that had up to 500,000 downloads with 2 points, while apps with between 50 and 100 million downloads got 10 points. The last time the apps were updated also played a part because it shows the care the developers have for the app – a tool that hasn’t been refreshed in ages isn’t going to attract many new users.
That being said, whether you’re looking for a beat maker app for Android with a free downloads, or a general music maker for Android with the same free download, this is the place for you. That being said, here are the best music making apps for Android in 2017.
