4. The Institute for Intelligence and Special Operation (MOSSAD)

MOSSAD was founded in 1949, as a coordinating body between various intelligence agencies of the new state of Israel. In 1951, it was placed under the direct control of the Prime minister’s office. Mossad’s many exploits have elevated it to a legendary status in the intelligence community worldwide. The most secretive and infamous part of Mossad is Kidon. Not much is known about this unit, apart from few statements from former Israeli intelligence officers. According to Yaakov Katz, editor-in-chief of the Jerusalem Post, it is “an elite group of expert assassins who operate under the Caesarea branch of the espionage organization. Not much is known about this mysterious unit, details of which are some of the most closely guarded secrets in the Israeli intelligence community.”
