Even though Thailand’s commercial sex industry is sizeable and Bangkok’s red light districts are well known worldwide, Thai girls are taught that a good woman should remain a virgin until marriage. On the other hand, more than half of Thai men said they had been unfaithful to their wives. The consequences of this double standard are tensions among genders in this country.
