Illinois went from having 825 deaths in 1999 to 1,835 in 2015. Unlike Massachusetts and North Carolina, Illinois has a bigger problem with heroin rather than fentanyl. While there are states that have ups and downs with this problem, Illinois is one of the states with a steady rise regarding the epidemic drug deaths from year to year.
