1. What can you do with ______?
Bring in a collection of everyday household items and select one to present to the class. Allow students to examine the item closely and determine the various functions that the item could perform, encouraging innovation, creativity and in-class discussion. Students may be given a defined period of time in which to brainstorm and write down the uses that they have thought of. For example, if a crate is brought in, students might suggest functions such as: carrying vessel; flower bed/ pot; chair/ seating device; book rack, etc.
Points may be awarded for the most creative answers.
