Nowadays everything takes experience. We can go to expensive schools and universities, we spend years studying and trying to secure our future and end up in huge financial debts. And then when we finally graduate and walk out of school with fresh knowledge ready to put it to a good use, we get rejected because we don’t have enough experience. There is probably nothing more depressing for a young individual who is trying to start a life of their own than to be rejected because he or she is too young to have experience. I have mentioned this issue more than once and it is something that always pops out when discussing the job market of today. No one wants to hire us because we are inexperienced, but we can’t get experience because no one wants to hire us. It may sound funny but it is certainly not, though one may laugh ironically. It never seizes to amaze me how employers are willing to neglect the fact that we may be talented or intelligent or quick learners, simply because we haven’t had the opportunity to fill our CVs with previous jobs. They expect candidates who are already familiar with all the procedures and that can only jump in and pick up from there. As time is precious, the majority of employers are not willing to waste it on candidates who still need to learn.

Seems like there is no other solution but to accept the fact that employment history is a relevant factor (or the most relevant one) and to start seeking for internship and volunteering opportunities anywhere we can.
