3. Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn

The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn or simply the Golden Dawn was established in the late 19th century and has its origins in the Freemasonry. The main differentiation from the Masonic organization is that Golden Dawn allowed women in its ranks as equals to the men of the Order. Its members are developing their skills in Alchemy, Astrology, Thelma and other ‘arts’ through a hierarchical system nearly identical to the Masonic. As it happens often with such Orders, internal disputes resulted in the breakdown of the Order’s leadership that led to the emerge of smaller groups which to some extend have kept the original self-development system intact.
