Number 7 on our list of most educated countries in Asia is Saudi Arabia that is one of the wealthiest countries in the world. However, there is a controversy regarding the education system not being open for women. In fact, the GER percentage 54.9 for tertiary or higher education is shown here are for both sexes, which indicates women are now getting higher education in Saudi Arabia. In the past, the GER percentage for women may have been lower but things have changed for the better. Up to secondary level, education is provided by the government free of charge, but it is not compulsory.
