5. Ants
Even though ants are probably one of the cleanest infestations you could have in your house, let’s face it—they suck! Like spiders, there are many different species of ants, but they all generally look the same: three body segments, two antennas, and six legs. They find their way into your house through even the tiniest of cracks in search of food and water, and once they do they show no mercy! You’ll want to rip your hair out walking into your kitchen to find hundreds of ants marching to and from your cupboards, and they somehow manage to find their way into boxes and bags of food that haven’t even been opened yet! Don’t be ashamed if you cry a little as you unwillingly dump the contents of your pantry into the trash. No wonder they rank this high in our list of most annoying bugs found in your house, right?
You’ll want to make these little critters pay! That’s right, you’re gonna get ‘em! But it is likely that you will disastrously find that your ant problem is bigger than you. You may find satisfaction in taking out each and every ant you see, but as soon as they’re gone, more will follow. You’re definitely going to need an exterminator for this one, but there are steps you could take to aid in trying to control them inside. Ant traps should help slightly until an exterminator can properly treat your house (which takes time and multiple treatments), but you should follow their trail and look for where they are entering your home. If you can seal it up—great!—either way, you can dilute some rubbing alcohol into water and rub it onto their trail; thus, erasing it. Mind you, they’re still going to get in, just from a different route, so don’t hold too much of a grudge and try to handle the situation on your own. Let the exterminator handle this one!
