As we mentioned earlier, the United State of America’s domination over the engineering industry has lessened due to global developments. However, despite waning influence, the US still easily tops the list of the 10 most advanced countries in engineering by a large, comfortable distance as evidenced by the fact that the number of citations made by the US is nearly five times that of second-placed China. However, this should be taken with a grain of salt. While the US may have a huge number of published papers and citations, they also have a much, much larger population than say, Japan or Germany who also rank quite high. This is not to take away from the achievements of the US of course. They are pioneers in many engineering disciplines and are currently at the front as well.
