Registering a growth of almost 28%, BlackRock tops the list the 10 largest investment companies in the world, with more than 1 trillion euros in assets under management when compared to second place Vanguard Asset Management. The company was founded in 1988 and at the end of Q4 2020, has crossed more than $7.81 trillion in assets under management. It has earned revenue of more than $14.5 billion in 2019 and had an income of around $4.5 billion. The company employs over 16,ooo people  and due to its sheer size and influence, is called as the biggest shadow bank in the world. It has clients in more than 100 countries and has 70 offices in around 30 countries. It is now aiming to make its investments more sustainable, and to this effect, has announced that it will be divesting from thermal coal.
