5. Mexico – 3%
With a production of 2.5 million tons of eggs, Mexico ranks fifth on our list of largest egg producing countries in the world. The country accounts for 3% of the global egg production. Mexico has a large per capital consumption of eggs in the world. The egg industry had suffered a great deal as a result of avian influenza outbreak. As a result, Mexican egg exports are permitted if they are breaking eggs, pathogen-free or have received a thermal process. Some of the large eggs producing states in Mexico are Veracruz, Torreon, Campeche, Guanajuato and Yucatan.
