The US ranks on the third spot, as the country amassed 8% of the global egg production with 5.6 million tons of eggs produced annually. Most of the egg production in the US is for human consumption. The top five egg producing states are Iowa, Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania and Texas. There are approximately 186 egg producing companies with flocks of 75,000 hens or more.
