Danone SA (ADR) (OTCMKTS:DANOY) ranks third in our list of largest bottled water companies in the world. It is a France-based multinational food company which has a huge bottled water business around the world. Its total bottled water revenue is over $4.6 billion. Famous water brands like Evian and Volvic are the properties of Danone. Evian is named after an area in Southeastern France near the shores of Lake Geneva, where a French nobleman discovered large sources of fresh water during the French Revolution. Evian bottled water is said to be extremely healthy, as its source is fed from melted snow and rain that filters through glacial sand from the Vinzier Plateau. In 2002, Danone entered into an agreement with The Coca-Cola Co (NYSE:KO) which allowed Coca-Cola to market and sell Evian mineral water in North America. Volvic sells its bottled water in over 60 countries all over the world. Volvic’s source is the Clairvic Spring, north of Puy de Dôme in central France. Volvic has two main plants, where over 1 billion bottles are produced annually.
