There is a widespread myth that people with criminal past are often taking refuge in the French Foreign Legion, the number 6 on our list of high paying overseas jobs with no experience necessary. The old romantic movies popularized this story and it is far from the truth. The French Foreign Legion conducts long lists of tests and background checks before accepting a new Legionnaire. Although they don’t ask for any work experience, you need to pass a selection of sports, medical and Psycho-technical tests in order to sign the first five-year contract. During the first contract you will receive around $16,000 per year, and later you can become eligible for higher ranks and ‘Foreign theater operations,’ which can bring you a much higher salary.
