3. Sushmita Sen, India – Miss Universe 1994
Question: What is the essence of being a woman?
Answer: “Just being a woman is God’s gift that all of us must appreciate. The origin of a child is a mother, and is a woman. She shows a man what sharing, caring, and loving is all about. That is the essence of a woman.”
1994 called, said it wants its sexism back.
It actually shocks me how offensive this answer is to everyone. Not only does it state that you have to be a mother to be “essentially” a woman (WRONG), but it also portraits men as invalids when it comes to sharing, caring and loving. It also –again- shoves God into the mix. The number three on our list of hardest beauty pageant questions and answers is outdated, but I’ll admit, that is one tough question.
