Question: “Miss America 1989 Gretchen Carlson just accepted a $20 million settlement from Fox News for her sexual harassment suit against Roger Ailes. Fox paid, Ailes walked. What message does this send?”
Answer: “This sends a message that we have so much further to go with equality in the workforce. Women are just as equal as men in the workforce and I think — it’s 2016, guys. We’ve got to focus on this and have equality in the workforce. And when we start focusing on that, it’s going to be great.”
Ok, this whole thing is plagued with irony.
For one, the fact that someone named “Alies” is so obviously “The Enemy” is hilarious.
Secondly, am I the only one seeing the immediate contradiction between the first and second sentence? If the message is that we have a long way to go in workforce equality, it means that we are NOT “just as equal as men in the workforce” YET.
Another part of the message it sends is that 20 million dollars is a lot of money. I could buy myself a thousand new integrities -at the price I rate mine- with that much. I have very little self-worth and a taste for shoes.
The question number 5 on our list of hardest beauty pageant questions and answers is great, I wish it’d had a better answer.
