Here’s a great list of the fastest growing cities in America in 2015, but with plenty more up and coming cities, each year will be a bit of surprise. One thing that’s not surprising, is that most of the cities listed here are “feeding” off of their megacity counterpart. As you will notice, these new cities that are flourishing and becoming more and more desirable are just outside some of the biggest cities in the United States.
Nowadays, especially families, are looking for everything that a city has, without being right in the city. Why? Well, it’s pretty obvious that cost is a huge factor. Big cities equal big money. Also, when you’re raising a family, a bit of a quieter spot is certainly more appealing. On the other hand though, they certainly don’t want to give up the amenities and conveniences of a big city. So we now introduce to you the up and coming cities. They have everything you need and everything you could ever want, but they are still lacking the huge megapolis feel, and that’s a good thing!
As you will notice, Texas takes the cake. The Lone Star State is booming and the proof is in the numbers, literally. I included the population growth for the year that was provided by the US Census Bureau at the end of each description. The growth is staggering for some, and some have been working on their growth for decades and really deserve a spot on the list.
Another thing you’ll notice is the east coast is only mentioned once! A bit surprising to some, but I guess the west is just booming more. Is your city on here? Do you believe your city is next to be on one of these lists? Take a look at the top 10 fastest growing cities in America in 2015 and let us know what you think!
10. Castle Rock, Colorado
Sandwiched between two large cities, Denver and Colorado Springs, there’s no stopping this city. It’s been doubling for the last four decades. Growth: 4.9%
9. Meridian, Idaho
This has been a city on the rise for quite some time. The population has been booming for around 25 years already, and has seen a 15% jump just in the last five year alone. With the nearby Boise becoming more crowded, people are looking for a way out without getting too out there. Growth: 5.1%
8. Milpitas, California
This spot happens to have some big name companies located here, attributing to some of the population growth for those families moving here for the job opportunities. This is the only mention of California on this list, although there are several cities on the rise and expected to be in the top 10 next year. Growth: 5.1%
7. McKinney, Texas
This city is not new on the list for its rising population. It’s been one of the fastest growing cities and it doesn’t show signs of slowing down, especially when the neighboring city of Dallas becomes more and more crowded. People are heading outside the megacity to get a bit of relief, and McKinney seems to be hitting the spot. Growth: 5.1%
6. Conroe, Texas
This city, outside of Houston, has doubled over the last 15 years and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon, making it one of the fastest growing cities in America in 2015. Growth: 5.2%
5. South Jordan, Utah
Not a newbie to the list, South Jordan is a city not too far from Salt Lake City and provides its visitors and residents with some magnificent natural scenery to keep them in awe. It’s not really a surprise people will flock away from the larger city to come here. However with these rising numbers since 2000, it will soon catch up! Growth: 5.7%
4. Frisco, Texas
Here’s a city that’s “reaping its growth” from a neighboring large city. With Dallas just next door, this city is mounting its population just trying to catching up. New schools are popping up to cope with the influx of families moving here. Growth: 5.8%
3. Doral, Florida
This is our only east coast city to be mentioned! The west coast is certainly growing more rapidly. Doral might not be a household city to you now, but if I told you it was near Miami, you’d know exactly where it is. This has been an ever growing city over the past 15 years. Growth: 7%
2. Georgetown, Texas
Since 2000, this city has been on the rise with the population getting larger and larger each minute. It’s near Austin, Texas which does help in terms of people wanting to be close to a large city but not really in it. The town is known for its impressive Victorian architecture. Growth: 7.6%
1. San Marcos, Texas
Just outside of Austin is the populous city of San Marcos. This isn’t the first time this city topped the list of growing cities, and it’s most due to the ever growing student population at Texas State University. The real estate is also cheaper in these parts attracting families who want to have the big city life without the big city cost. Growth: 7.9%
