10 Easiest Popular Piano Songs For Beginners With Letters

So you got sad and went on Amazon and bought a piano and now you have no idea what to do with it, which is why you’re checking out this list of the 10 easiest popular piano songs for beginners with letters.

Piano playing requires a pretty decent amount of hand-eye coordination, which I often lack, but have managed to get together enough to play piano fairly adequately. Guitar is definitely easier for me, but there’s a lot of pain associated when learning because you have to press the strings down with your fingers. Once you’ve developed callouses it’s fine, but piano playing won’t cause this problem.

One Direction isn’t on this list anywhere, which means I don’t really care about it (except for the one Taylor Swift song). If you’re not easily annoyed by some songs and you just want to play something, you’ll enjoy the recommendations here. Learning to read sheet music is pretty hard if you’ve never seen it before, so adding letters onto the notes and/or your piano keys helps the process tremendously because it becomes less about trying to read obscure symbols and more about matching your fingers to each letter it represents.

In order to create this list, I took a look at some key (I LOVE HUMOR) websites that house sheet music like TakeLessons, Choose Piano Lessons, Mint Music, and Piano Letters. From there, I took the best and easiest. Sometimes the easiest isn’t always the best song in the world, but it’ll do for now until you become a bit more skilled. Let’s say you are a bit of a skilled pianist and want a challenge. This means our list of the 7 Easiest Debussy Preludes and Piano Pieces is probably more your speed.

For those of you looking to just start out playing, keep on reading to find out the 10 easiest popular piano songs for beginners with letters:

10. “Drops of Jupiter” — Train

It’s back in our atmosphere, and at number ten on our list. This is absolutely iconic and even if you say you hate Train you love this song. Don’t lie to me. I know you want to learn to play this on piano, and it’s not too difficult.

9. “Love Me Like You Do” — Ellie Goulding

50 Shades of Grey got a better soundtrack than it deserved. How did they get Ellie Goulding and BEYONCÉ to record songs? I digress. This song is great and it’s not too terribly difficult to learn to play. The piano is pretty prominent throughout.

8. “Take Me to Church” — Hozier

This is one of the most annoying songs I’ve ever had the misfortune of listening to and I’m sorry to Hozier for that but he has way better music than this. However it is on of the easiest popular piano songs for beginners with letters. Other than my personal qualms with this, it’s going to help you practice minor words and scales. They’re pretty easy, so it’s not too terribly hard to learn.

7. “Counting Stars” — One Republic

Lately, I’ve been, I’ve been singing this song in my head because it’s so catchy. It’s great for showing off to your friends and not hard to learn if you follow along with the sheet music.

6. “Thinking Out Loud” — Ed Sheehan

Ed Sheeran has some pretty good music for beginners, especially this song which is why we put it on the list of easiest popular piano songs for beginners with letters. It’s easy to master and a beautiful tune to use to serenade someone if you want.

5. “Shake It Off” — Taylor Swift

I’m personally offended that this song isn’t number one on this list of 10 easiest popular piano songs for beginners with letters, let alone the only song on our list considering this invented music. You’re a sinner and a cretin if you don’t like this song and this is honestly the only thing you need to learn to play or need to listen to for the rest of your sad life.

4. “Let It Go” — Idina Menzel

I just want to point out how much I hate Frozen and this song. Even so, it made our list because it’s pretty easy to play if you’re just starting out and trying to learn sheet music. If you know the words — and if this song is in your range, which if it’s not, please don’t sing — you can sing along.

3. “Payphone” — Maroon 5

This is a bop if I ever heard one. The Wiz Khalifa verse is optional but preferable. This has a pretty simple melody, so it’s easy to catch on to.

2. “Someone Like You” — Adele

This is a pretty iconic song and is universally known. The popularity means you probably already know how it sounds, so you should have an easier time learning and playing it.

1. “A Thousand Years” — Christina Perri

I have died every day waiting for this song to fall out of existence. To be fair, Twilight made this song popular, which means it should be the greatest song in the world considering Twilight is the only movie franchise in the world, but it used to play so much it makes me want to rip my legs off. It’s still soothing and simple to play, and it’s pretty romantic if you have someone you want to serenade with it.

That concludes our list of the 10 easiest popular piano songs for beginners with letters. Give us a song, you’re now the piano man.
