9. Norway
With a red background and a blue Scandinavian cross that is based on ‘Danish Cloth’, this flag was officially adopted on July 17th in 1821. The Scandinavian cross is outlined by white stripes and unlike the Danish Cloth, it’s placed at the left side of the flag. The colors of the flag are said to be influenced by the flags of France, US and Britain and depict the culture of ‘Liberty’ and ‘Independence’. The blue color represents Norway’s past association with Denmark and its union with Sweden.
