There are several varieties of basil, but sweet basil is the most common and one of the easiest to grow. What’s great about basil is that you can start harvesting the leaves continuously and not worry much about anything else, provided that you harvest properly. The best way to prune them is when a branch has six to eight leaves. You can prune up to the first or second set. Be sure to protect basil from aphids and bacteria. With how easy it is to grow basil, it is considered by many as one of the 10 easiest farm crops to grow.
