3. Australia
Score: 39
Australia is home to over 6.7 million migrants, nearly 30% of the country’s population of 24 million.
Not only is Australia a major magnet for immigrants, especially for countries such as the United Kingdom, but it also managed to get quite a high score in the Migrant Integration Policy Index, where it landed on the 8th spot. Local policies regarding education opportunities for immigrants and anti-discrimination laws brought Australia the highest points. Access to nationality, healthcare, and the legislation regarding family reunion also brought the nation extra points.
IMMIgroup points out that Australia is a great place to be in, not just for the awesome beaches, wonderful weather and cuddly wildlife (we’re going to ignore the number of creatures that could kill you), but also for other things. For instance, it ranks 13th in Transparency International’s ranking, and it has a very low murder rate.
