Rate: 31.8
Up next on our list of countries that had the most gun violence in 2016, is Jamaica, a country with over 2.7 million residents. Unfortunately, the crime rates here are pretty high, with 31.8 deaths per 100,000 residents being caused by gunfire, making up 80% of all homicides.
It is estimated that the number of guns owned by civilians reaches 180,000. The country’s laws don’t guarantee a person’s right to own a firearm, and people must apply for a license before obtaining one, which includes providing a valid reason for needing a gun, as well as mental and criminal background checks.
