According to Bangor Daily News writer David Farmer, it has contributed millions of dollars to conservative and educational initiatives. Leon Leonwood Bean started L.L. Bean, an American privately held retail corporation, in 1912. The firm focuses on clothes and outdoor leisure equipment and is located in Freeport, Maine, where it was founded.

However, per Zippia.com, employees at L.L.Bean exhibit a glaring lack of political diversity. At 73.0%, it has an extremely high percentage of Democratic Party supporters among its workforce.
