You can bring your girlfriend and meet me at one of the cities with the most hotel rooms in the world.
Pitbull would absolutely encourage you to check out all of these exciting hotel rooms across the world. Anytime I think about hotels I’m either thinking about “Hotel Motel” by Pitbull or “Ignition (Remix)” by R. Kelly and there’s not much of an in-between situation there. Aside from the implications in those songs, hotels are like a completely different world. It’s like the outside world doesn’t exist when you’re within the confines of a hotel. Even the hallways just feel like an alternate universe. My favorite part of hotels is the comfortable bed and the fluffy sheets. I’m an average person and I don’t really trust white sheets, so there’s something posh and nice about going to hotels and seeing the fancy bed. You even get free toiletries in hotel rooms that you can generally take home with you if you’re sneaky (and that desperate for free toiletries I guess).
Traveling is a fun activity which helps renew our energy as we are filled with the wonder of exploring a new place. The hotel room kind of functions as a locker on most trips, but it’s essential to find a good and safe place to stay when you’re on any type of trip. It’s pretty rare that you stay in your hotel for a majority of the time, unless it’s just that kind of excursion or you’re reviewing the room. It’s crazy to think about how many hotel rooms there are in the world considering how many people travel on a daily basis. In some cities, it’s almost like there’s a hotel on every block. New York is an example of a place people travel to a lot, and some of the hotels on our list of the 15 Biggest Hotels in New York City surely have a ton of rooms.
Needless to say, the hotel business is booming. It was predicted that it would reach $550 billion in revenue in 2016, up from just $395 billion in 2009. Some of the leading hotel chains based on number of rooms worldwide as of April 2016 include Marriott International Inc (NASDAQ:MAR) (1.11 million rooms), Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc (NYSE:HLT) (751,000), InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (ADR) (NYSE:IHG) (744,000), Wyndham Worldwide Corporation (NYSE:WYN) (678,000), and Choice Hotels International Inc (NYSE:CHH) (507,000). The Europe and Asia Pacific regions are performing particularly well for these and other hotel companies, with occupancy rates of nearly 70% in 2014.
In order to estimate the number of hotel rooms in different cities, we consulted Quora. It was difficult to find accurate statistics for the number of hotel rooms in different places, but Quora seemed to have the best information. The cities on this list are ranked by the number of hotel rooms and the one with the most is at the top of the list.
