4. Lago Enriquillo (Lake Enriquillo)

Formerly known as Lake Xaragua, Lake Enriquillo was named over the Enriquillo who was a cacique or chief of the Taino tribe and hid in the mountains where Lake Enriquillo is currently located. Lake Enriquillo serves as a habitat to an abundant number of flamingos and iguanas. Seeing such rare kind of species or the ones we don’t often see will surely make visitors crave for more of its beauty. The best thing to observe in this place is a reverse hospitality where the animals accommodate the humans into their habitat and let them relax and enjoy the scenery of a beautiful lake.
